FIGURES

Throughout the painting process, figures will sometimes emerge. These figurative pieces are never intentional nor planned, but have an emotional intensity and seem to live within the deepest levels of the creative process.

FIGURES OF ARCHITECTURE

These works are an on-going series of paintings which draw from a variety of human figures found in architectural renderings of the past. Architects would often create their own stylized figures to use within their renderings, consequently creating a “signature” of sorts. The figures were not typically detailed nor were they always anatomically correct since their sole purpose was to provide scale and context. These figures bring a personality to the abstraction and by bringing these figures to the foreground, they take their rightful place as subject and give praise to a past art form.
